Partners in life and image making, Steven Gray and Chad Wagner have been together for a decade, coupled creatively under the moniker of THEGINGERB3ARDMEN. Not content with a single genre, the pair photograph nouns: people, places, things. Their infectious, kinetic personalities carry over into work across all subjects.
Much of their professional output lies in wedding portraiture and documenting New York’s thriving drag scene. As such, Chad and Steven maintain respect and appreciation for a subject’s investment. Whether it’s a dazzling outfit or a couple’s desire to remember their big day in style, you can bet it’s the foundation upon which these photographers build a session. Tools of choice follow suit. Utilizing the powerful GFX System, portraits can be admired in all the detail demanded.
For the sake of your photographic betterment, Steven and Chad have narrowed their years of experience into three simple tips. Firstly, play with interesting backgrounds, to help your subject pop within the frame. Secondly, take more risks! The reward may be a truly unforgettable photo. Thirdly, support local businesses – not least because they’ll make for exciting locations.
