Leverage Yourself : Derrick Ong x X-T200

01.23.2020

When Fujifilm Japan selected me for this project for the X-T200 camera, I was overwhelmed and immediately started forming a concept for a location photoshoot. As this camera is targeting young adults, I have arranged 2 models to shoot two sets of images: one in the day, another set at night.

When I first opened the box and saw the camera, the X-T200 design resembled the rest of the X-T series. I’m sure that it would be great for the entry-level photographer to take their photography experience a step further.  The X-T200 has a larger LCD screen allowing more flexibility in the angle of rotation than its predecessor, the X-T100.

During the photoshoot, I instantaneously felt very comfortable using the camera as the dials and buttons are easily customized in the Quick Menu the way I like them to be. I am able to make exposure and setting changes in an instant while focusing on communication with my model during the shoot.

I shot all the images with the Auto-focusing Eye Detection feature, which makes auto-focusing accurate and fast. With the Portrait Enhancer Feature, the Jpeg images are usable and printable straight out of the camera.

The image quality from the camera is great with its good dynamic range which retains good details in the highlights and shadows. Fujifilm is famous for its film simulation, and this camera is packed with 11 amazing film simulations that allow photographers to choose the one that suits their mood and color profile.

Overall, I enjoyed using this camera and I think it is great for both entry-level and social media-oriented photographers.
