Joie tạo ra thế giới hình ảnh của riêng mình khi anh vẫn còn là học sinh trung học. Đơn giản nhưng sâu sắc trong việc khám phá những khả năng khác nhau để có được những góc nhìn đẹp nhất trong chân dung con người, đã khiến anh không dừng được việc nói lên suy nghĩ của mình bằng những hình ảnh. Nhưng anh chưa bao giờ biến nó thành sự nghiệp cho đến đầu những năm 30 tuổi. Bắt đầu làm nhiếp ảnh gia đám cưới tự do, cuối cùng anh quyết định dấn thân vào thế giới thời trang, đi theo khát khao vô hạn của mình về nhiếp ảnh ý tưởng. Là một trong những nhiếp ảnh gia thời trang lớn ở Malaysia, anh biến các ý tưởng và câu chuyện thành những hình ảnh tĩnh. Những bức ảnh bìa của anh cho BACKSTAGE PROFESSIONAL (Tạp chí làm đẹp thời trang Trung Quốc hàng đầu Malaysia), có lẽ là ví dụ điển hình nhất về sự phong cách, hợp thời trang, còn là một trong những kiểu nhiếp ảnh thời trang. Anh đã tổ chức hai triển lãm cá nhân các dự án nhiếp ảnh của riêng mình và một trong số đó trở thành bộ sưu tập vĩnh viễn của Bộ Du lịch Malaysia. Hành trình nhiếp ảnh thời trang và sắc đẹp của anh cho đến nay đã hợp tác với nhiều người mẫu và người nổi tiếng hàng đầu như người mẫu hàng đầu Malaysia Amber Chia, nữ diễn viên Chris Tong Bing Yu, người dẫn chương trình truyền hình DJ Cheryl Lee Xin Yi, nữ diễn viên phụ xuất sắc nhất Châu Á Yeo Yann Yann và nhiều người khác. Anh thành lập Allspire Photography vào năm 2009, chụp ảnh cho các phương tiện truyền thông in ấn với mục đích tạo ra những bức ảnh truyền cảm hứng. Anh được đào tạo như một vũ công ba lê và đương đại ở Malaysia, sau đó là nhà thiết kế ánh sáng sân khấu trước khi trở thành một nhiếp ảnh gia chuyên nghiệp. Joie kết hợp những đam mê về thiết kế ánh sáng sân khấu và khiêu vũ với nhau để thể hiện vẻ đẹp thực sự của nhiếp ảnh. Anh nổi tiếng với khả năng ghi lại những khoảnh khắc đầy cảm hứng trên sân khấu, vì vậy anh được bổ nhiệm làm nhiếp ảnh gia chính cho một trong những sự kiện nghệ thuật lớn của châu Á, GEORGE TOWN FESTIVAL trong 3 năm liên tiếp. Năm 2015, anh được bổ nhiệm làm nhiếp ảnh gia chính thức của Liên hoan khiêu vũ quốc tế D’Motion và năm 2016 được bổ nhiệm làm nhiếp ảnh gia chính thức duy nhất cho buổi biểu diễn khai mạc BEIJING DANCE FESTIVAL, đã đánh dấu một mốc quan trọng khác trong sự nghiệp nhiếp ảnh của anh. Với niềm đam mê và tham gia nhiều vào nghệ thuật biểu diễn và thiết kế ánh sáng sân khấu, anh tích hợp cảm xúc và chuyển động, đóng băng chúng một cách tuyệt vời. Anh đã chụp lại vô số giây phút tách biệt và biến chúng thành những khoảnh khắc ngoạn mục cho các màn trình diễn vũ đạo nổi tiếng quốc tế của Akram Khan (Anh), Sidi Larbi (Bỉ), Shaun Parker (Úc), Riki Von Valken (Đức), Yuko Kawamoto (Nhật Bản), Joyce S Lim (Mỹ), Rojas và Rodríguez (Tây Ban Nha), Aida Redza (Malaysia).

Portrait speaks
I founded Allspire Photography, derived from the idea of “Inspire and get inspire by all”, in 2009 because I wanted to create more creative and meaningful pictures.
I sailed with BACKSTAGE PROFESSIONAL, a leading beauty magazine specialized in personal grooming, working with numerous internationally influential artists, including Amber Chia, the first Asian model featured for GUESS, in creating stunning and ideas provocative cover shots. That was one of the unforgettable moments because I chose FUJIFILM X Series over DSLR full frame system and presented the assignment with my X-T1 and XF18-55mmF2.8-4. It became one of my proudest decisions because I not only got what I wanted but also the confident in Fujifilm.

Arts, the Fuel that Got Me Further
I was trained as a contemporary dancer when I was in my late teen age. I was still the boy fascinated by the clean and intriguing movements by Mikhail Baryshnikov and I didn’t expect myself to be introduced to Ballet, until my mentor put me on barre work and trained me the Ballet positions. Over the years of practice and performance, I gained the insight of body language and expression, that I could instill into my photographs. My company was appointed by George Town Festival (one of the major art festivals in ASEAN) as the preferred media partner for 4 consecutive years to lead a team of photographers to capture the mesmerizing performances by international acclaimed dance companies. My blood rushes in my body every time I pick up the camera trying to breath to the dancers’ rhythm. From rapid changing movements to slow and steadily expanding moments, I have seized the powerful and breathtaking energies by Akram Khan, Sidi Larbi, Shaun Parker, Riki Von Valken, Yuko Kawamoto, and Aida Redza, and brought to BEIJING DANCE FESTIVAL as the sole official photographer for the opening.

Bringing Photography and Arts to Another Level
Photography is a continuously growing, expanding and sometimes an essence fermenting process. The power that still shots hold can go very far and very long. I have, yet again, decided to evolve from where I have achieved initiating a new world of dance photography where dance and photography, together with other elements, become the equally visible and important part of a picture. I initiated The Performers Project. I assemble talents from different dance genres to produce a cause and providing guidance to motivate dance artistes in embracing their passion to express themselves via arts and photography. I present not only still shot but also motion pictures and bring forward the existence of photography supporting the awareness and attention on respecting and promoting fair treatment on dance and photography as a profession.
