Martin Hogeboom (Netherlands)

I'm a fulltime portrait and advertising photographer from the Netherlands, who loves his job! I get a lot of joy from being creative, traveling and meeting so many different people. Storytelling is the core of my work: it’s one of the best things to be able to tell the story of a brand or a person in a photograph. To make my pictures stand out, I want every photo to have something special, a "wow!-factor", as I call it. I love working with great lighting: anything from ambient light to big and small strobes. Last year I published my first own photobook: Everyday People. The book is the result of a portrait series I shot for my blog over the course of 2 years: one portrait a day. A lot of them are shot with Fujifilm.

A couple of years ago I started using the Fujifilm X System next to my big DSLR system: first an X100 and later an X-Pro1 with 3 lenses. I really liked the small size, the classic looks and the handling of the cameras. Shooting photos using the LCD-screens makes me more creative in finding viewpoints and making compositions. And what’s also important: a smaller camera helps me make a better connection with the people in front of my lens, there’s no more big black barrier between us. When the X-Pro2 came out, I started using the Fujifilms for all of my commercial jobs, they now have completely replaced my DSLR’s.
