Elena Givone

Elena Givone, born in 1979, lives between Italy and Sri Lanka, where she is fulfilling her dream of opening a photography school. In 2006 she graduated with honors at IED of Turin and immediately wins the prize "Attenzione nuovo talento fotografico FNAC" with Pazi-Mine project Sarajevo in 2006, in which she portrays the generation born at the end of the war in the former Yugoslavia.
In 2008, she goes to Brazil where, in the favelas of Florianopolis, strts her “Flying Away “project that will continue also in two juvenile prisons of Salvador de Bahia: using a "magic" yellow carpet, asks to the children to close their eyes and to fly with the wings of their imagination in a happy place.
Since then, often with the support of various nonprofit organizations, she has carried out numerous photographic projects in various parts of the world.
Her works have been exhibited in prestigious museums (like the Fotomuseum Winterthur in Switzerland) and are part of high-level collections, such as Donata Pizzi exhibited at the Triennale in the exhibition “L’altro sguardo. Italian photographers 1965-2015 ", curated by Raffaella Perna, Milan, 2016. She collaborates with national and international journals.
She is represented by the Contrasto Agency and has recently published the book “Dreams from my Magic Lamp” (winner of the 2015 photobook Emuse) which gathers more than one hundred dreams at the school of photography one world foundation, Ahungalla, in the island of Sri Lanka.
