The life of a photographer is a journey. It takes you to diverse locations, whether for specific assignments or personal projects, and introduces you to new people. But it’s also an internal journey—one of discovering new perspectives.

There are times when I travel simply to unwind. On those occasions, I look for a camera that is compact yet delivers excellent image quality. For my trip to Thailand, I wanted to get just such a camera.

Ever since Fuji released the GFX Series, I’ve been an instant fan. And when I first laid eyes on the new GFX 100 RF, I could hardly believe that a 102-megapixel large-format camera was housed in a body as compact as an APS-C model—reminiscent of the X-Pro3 or X100 series.

The new GFX100RF is beautifully designed. It feels great in my hands, and I’ve spent hours on the road photographing all kinds of scenes. When walking around the city, all I carried was the camera and a small bag with two spare batteries.

I didn’t need to bring a set of lenses on my Thailand trip. The built-in 35mm lens (28mm in 35 mm format equivalent) and digital tele converter on the Fujifilm GFX 100 RF provided everything I needed.

Without worrying about what gear to take, I could focus entirely on creating—immersing myself in the moments and scenes unfolding around me.

Photography is much more than capturing moments. It’s about engaging with the world around—connecting with people, places, and situations. To take a photograph is to frame an experience, to learn how to listen to silence and respond to it.

A highly reliable autofocus system helps a lot in capturing these experiences, making the camera feel like an extension of my own eyes.

The GFX100RF reminds me of the -format analog rangefinders I used at the start of my photographic journey. It’s something I’ve been searching for for a long time.

I believe this camera will be an excellent choice for travel, street photography, and personal projects. It’s a versatile, compact, and truly enjoyable tool to work with.
