I first came to shoot with Fujifilm cameras when the XT1 was released. I heard very good things about the system in terms of colour accuracy, image quality and its small compact form, not to mention Fujifilm’s superb range of glass and lenses. Intrigue took me a step closer. I purchased the X-T1 and started to integrate it in shoots next to my DSLRs. I just loved its form factor and image quality so much and, after much testing in the studio, I made the switch completely to Fujfilm X series.
When the Fujifilm GFX 50S mirrorless medium format system was released I had immediate interest, and it wasn’t long before I’d made the switch from Hasselblad and Leica medium format over to the new GFX 50S. A very unique system and small size factor, but with truly outstanding performance and image quality. The good thing with the X series and GFX series is that it’s just like using the same system; all the menus and configuration is the same throughout. It’s so easy to use as a complete system. I just pick up and go and I don’t have to get my head around a separate menu system for functionality.
As both a DSLR and Medium Format user in my career, a lot of my work can be studio-based with technical lighting set ups. I now shoot all of my fashion, beauty and advertising work using the brilliant X-T2 and GFX 50S camera systems. I couldn’t be happier with my tools for my job than I am now.
The lovely filmic quality the images have is just beautiful and the colour accuracy is so pleasing to the eye. Its size, so small and so light, is absolutely fantastic. Hand-holding for an all-day shoot is so easy and effortless.
A lot of my beauty work requires absolutely pin sharp details and colour rendition, the X and GFX series delivers this bang-on every time. Those that have attended one of my seminars or live shows will know how tack sharp the detail is from these systems, as they’ve seen it live on the big screen as I shoot it.
These tremendous little systems with tremendously big results, packed full of quality and features, bring the excitement back into shooting again.
I can say I have no regrets of changing systems at all, and to have say the user support that Fujifilm gives you in terms of continued firmware updates for improvement to both features and functionality of camera and lenses shows that they are a company that listens to its users and shows they are always wanting to give their photographers the best they can. Their commitment is second to none.
It says a lot when a commercial professional of over 20 years makes a switch from all his DSLR and medium format kit for beautiful compact mirrorless units full of creative dynamite, with lens options and quality that are truly outstanding! Functionality, form, and performance out of these systems is just outstanding and so easy.
