It was at a time when the Graphic Arts carried a lot of weight in the economy of Bilbao, with a multitude of major companies servicing Basque industry, that I started out in the world of photography in the family company, a photomechanical workshop (pre-press) that worked with some of the best photographers of the day. Books, advertising, art, fashion… My father (a lithographer by profession) taught me all of his secrets in their essence and put my first photo camera in my hands, a Yashica Minister that I still have to this day.
Continuous tone, negatives, developers, these were everyday words in my youth, devoting my time to graphic arts and photography as a way of life. Making corrections to photographic material and originals – with my father’s inestimable help – was something I spent a lot of time doing in my early years as I tried to forge my own unique style.

At the beginning I used to do all kinds of work, from covering car rallies to doing advertising, until I eventually settled for the subjects that form the staple of my current work: travel and nature, photojournalism and sport, with motorcycles always being a running theme throughout all of my work.
Countless trips to Paris and two years working in Venezuela for media companies and publishing houses would crystallize my style and preferences, and were the start of an ongoing relationship with the best photographic publishers and agencies in the world, encouraging me to create my own firm, which is how Photocall3000 came to be born.
The most important national and international events are covered every day by our photo cameras. National and international cinema festivals, fashion shows, the activities of the Spanish Royal Family, advertising, news, travel, in both our own and other publications, not to mention sports events.

Motorcycles have always been the thread running through all of these subjects for us. Ever since I first went to see a motorbike race, at the inaugural race for the Montmeló Circuit, this has been a subject that has been one of the cornerstones of my work to this day. Another key theme has been travel photography, especially with the continent of Africa as the backdrop.
Through agreements with major international agencies, my work has been published in the most prestigious national and international media and publications.
At the present time, having had books published in Venezuela and Europe (Actas de vigía, Realismo, Kibera), I find myself in a new stage of my professional career. For the past five years I have been focusing on developing a personal viewpoint for the World Motorcycle Championship through my APP: ONE PERCENT MAGAZINE. This is a monthly effort in which we approach the competition, riders, technical staff, fans and future stars from a different point of view.
To achieve this, we have made contacts and built relationships with the professional teams, riders and other players in this particular microcosm. We collaborate with some of the main names on the scene (Manuel Pecino, Emilio Pérez de Rozas, Mela Chércoles, Mirco Lazzari…).

The Zugaza family, with their Company IKEDER, is another key player in this new phase. It is they who ensure that my work appears in publications and exhibitions in leading galleries, the highlight of which is their own marvellous Photomuseum (Zarautz).
And let’s not forget about Fujifilm. From my S5-Pro right up to the state-of-the-art X-T2, my kit bag has always had space for their photographic equipment.
With its professional X Series, Fujifilm has continued its mission to find that difference in quality and has placed its trust in a group of photographers, of which I am lucky to be a part, and a significant part of my professional output has depended on their equipment, shaped by years of top-level experience and know-how. Although photography is advancing even more quickly than the motorbikes that we like to photograph and even though there are almost daily and ephemeral innovations, Fujifilm can be relied on to provide good sense and stability.
Despite the huge challenges that we are facing, the best is still to come, so I will grit my teeth and continue being a PHOTOGRAPHER, in capital letters.
