Jamie Stoker is a freelance portrait and fashion photographer living in his home city of London.
With an early interest in documentary photography whilst studying at the London College of Communication and University of Brighton he likes to shoot in a quiet and considered manner letting his subjects speak for themselves.
Recently this way of working has lead to him covering fashion weeks for clients such as Burberry, Dior and T: The New York Times Style Magazine. When not backstage, he also shoots a range of portrait and fashion commissions for brands, magazines and agencies – as well as personal work when he can find the time.


My formative years in photography consisted largely of shooting film on 35mm and 120 rangefinder cameras. I loved how they were relatively small and precise instruments that caused the minimum amount of distraction between me and my subjects.
The Fujifilm X-Pro1 was the first digital camera that seemed to me to take the best elements of this way of working and reliably combine it with the convenience of a digital sensor and so when it was released I bought one straight away. The next week I ended up shooting a multiple day multiple subject portrait commission for Nike with it and for the first time actually enjoyed using a digital camera. The camera’s files were beautiful and full of character and the small form factor meant my subjects were noticeably more relaxed then when I had used digital SLRs previously.
Fast forward to present day and I now use the Fujifilm X and GFX series for the majority of my professional and personal work and I couldn’t be happier with how they perform. The cameras are well made, exceptionally reliable and compact. Thoroughly customisable controls and buttons as well as menus mean the cameras can really be tailored to a photographer’s personal way of shooting. The lenses are some of the best I’ve used being small and sharp and fast across the board. They render subjects beautifully and combined with Fujifilm colour rendition and film simulations the files I shoot now are the closest I’ve found digital has come to the character of film. I also admire Fujifilm’s customer support with constant firmware and software upgrades continuing to add features to cameras long after their release.
