Nilay İşlek was born in İzmir,Turkey. She completed her elementary and high school education in this city. Photography became her interest in her high school years. In 1999, she entered Dokuz Eylül University Fine Art Faculty and graduated with the thesis “Sensual Projections” in 2003. She completed her Master degree in the same faculty with her thesis “Visual Culture and Social Memory in the Context of Digital Photography Aesthetics” in 2009.
She started to Advertising Photography in 1995 during her education and also gave photography courses in İzmir Fen High School.During her photography carrier, She has been the Photo Editor of Universiade 2005 İzmir Summer Plays. As the founder of Artlens Visual Culture and Photography Atelier in 2010, she is also the lecturer of the courses, basic digital and advanced photography Besides her personal lecturing professions in many foundaitons, she’s entering workshops in Fujifilm Education Centre currently. .
Besides her personal exhibitions at home and abroad, the photographer has particiapated in many group exhibitions. As a counselor and editor in sectorel level, Nilay İşlek is currently working as a professionel photoprapher and as academically she’s still a PhD student at Ege University Faculty of Communication, Radio, Television and Cinema and a lecturer at Izmir University of Economics.
