Andreas Zacharatos was born in Athens, in 1961, he studied photography & cinematography in the film school of Lykourgos Stavrakos in Athens, graduating with excellent grades in 1983. He has been employed as Director of Photography since 1985 in Cinema and StateTelevision E.R.T. Since 1993, he has made twenty seven photography exhibitions. From 1985-2006 member of the Greek Photographic Society. Founding member of the Hellenic Leica Club & photographic community of X-Photographers Fujifilm Hellas. He has participated in festivals in Greece as well as abroad as a director of photography on documentary films. He has taught to state institutes of vocational training still photography, cinematography, camera operation, and lighting in television. He has received the following prizes in photographic competitions in Greece and Europe:
2007 Photography Award in the 1st Documentary Festival of Chalkida, for the film (Bird Land) directed by Elias Iosifidis
2007 Silver Medal in the National Competition for Colour Photography, held by the Hellenic Photographic Society
2006 Gold Metal in the National Competition for Black & White Photography, held by the Hellenic Photographic Society.
2001 4th Prize and Distinction in FIAP International Competition on͞EARTH 2000͟.
1997 Award in the International Photography Competition of UNESCO on Parthenon, as a monument of international cultural heritage.
1996 1st prize in the Rollei's club International Photo Salon in the Great Britain.
