Be Creative: Ian MacDonald x Street Photography

Ian MacDonald

My name is Ian MacDonald.  I am a photographer and educator based out of Vancouver, BC, Canada.  My work focuses primarily on travel and street photography, with the occasional editorial portrait assignment and wedding thrown in.  In the past I completed a diploma and two certificate programs in adult education, and I have 20 years of teaching experience in the medical field that I love to bring to my photography.  When I am not out shooting I very much enjoy presenting, sharing, collaborating and teaching photography to others.  I am also currently writing my first in a series of eBooks on photography.
I originally made my switch to the Fuji X series when the X100s launched, at a time when I was in a creative slump and ready to step away from photography for a bit.  That little camera saved my photographic life and the X series continues to inspire me every day, as does Fuji’s ongoing efforts to collaborate with their users and improve their products.
Over the last few years I have experienced so many joyful moments shooting with my X series cameras:  Standing alone on a bridge in Paris photographing the sun rise behind Notre Dame, capturing that perfect moment on the street when the subject, the moment, the background, and the light all line up for just a split second, collaborating with other talent on portrait sessions, or being a part of a young couple’s wedding and having the honour of documenting their special day in a reportage fashion. It is truly a gift to be able to tell a story through the visual arts.
I am honoured to be an Official Fuji X Photographer.  I look forward to working with Fuji to promote and grow the Fuji X series, and to ongoing collaborations with my peers in the Fuji community.
