Piet Van den Eynde (Belgium)

Piet Van den Eynde is a Belgian freelance photographer, author and trainer, specializing in travel portraiture. He likes to work with flash to create striking environmental portraits in remote locations, whether it’s the Mongolian Altai mountains or the Omo river valley in Southern Ethiopia. When he’s not traveling, he’s writing books and creating tutorials about photography, lighting and image editing. In his spare time, he likes to reverse engineer the lighting setups of popular tv-shows or play Monopoly with – and get beaten by – his son Noah.

I started my Fujifilm journey with the original X-Pro and the 18, 35 and 60 mm primes because I was looking for something smaller than my DSLR that would still give me excellent image quality. Over the years, I’ve worked with most of the Fujifilm cameras but when in 2016, I got a chance to test drive the GFX50S and make a testimonial video about it in Varanasi, India, I was completely hooked on the GFX system, which is now my go-to setup. I love the GFX system because it’s still relatively lightweight and compact given the incredible quality and the raw files it produces are a dream to work with in postprocessing. My favourite lenses are the 32-64 and of course the 110 mm portrait lens but I am also very curious about the new 80 mm 1.7
