Valentina Tamborra (Italy)

1983 – Born and based in Milan. Journalist and Photographer.

Her work is focused on reportage and portrait photography and she loves mixing pictures and storytelling. Worked and work in partnership with some of the main NGOs or entities like AMREF Health Africa, Médecins Sans Frontières, Albero della Vita, Emergenza Sorris and Italian Red Cross. She had several personal exhibitions in Milan, Rome, Venice and Naples.

Several pubblications on National Media (Corriere della Sera, La Stampa, La Repubblica, Il Messaggero, Il Manifesto, La Lettura, Famiglia Cristiana, Gioia, Inside Over) and many interviews on Radio and TV Shows (Rai1, Rai3, Rai Italia, Sky, Radio 24, Radio Capital and Rai Radio2).

Professor at IIF (Italian Institute of Photography) in Milan and is lecturer on classes and workshops at IED (Design European Institute) and NABA (New Academy of Fine Arts). During the 2018 Photofestival she has been awarded with AIF Nuova Fotografia Prize.

Every Picture is a story.

Every story is a meeting, a feeling, a place where to find myself. I am a “nomad”: I travelled in many countries, collected and told stories from the Ice of North Pole to the deserts of Namibia, always pointing my eyes on people.

This approach let me feel at home in every part of the world.

I am attracted by the stories “at the border”: small worlds at the margins, those are often unnoticed, but that reveal themselves with surprise.

But with travelling a lot it comes the need to move in the lightest and most practical way.

It’s several years I work with Fujifilm: I was looking for a light camera, fast, intuitive, but with no compromise in quality.

With the X series, and then the GFX, has been love at first sight. Today they are the “my cameras”, but most of all, the “my people”. All the Fujifilm Staff is in fact ready to help and support on every situation. There is an old African saying: “if you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together”.
