About Our Featured Creators at Fujikina NYC 2022

See what our Creators have been making with our latest X Series cameras – and find inspiration for your own projects

To help celebrate our latest X Series products, we created a special project for Fujikina NYC 2022. Learn more about the event here.

We were keen to share a broad array of perspectives and create space for new voices previously underrepresented in the image-making community.  As a result, we partnered with 10 remarkable women from different backgrounds, equipping and walking alongside them as they pursued their creative visions based on the prompt “Life in Detail.” From a post-climate-apocalypse tale of seeking beauty amidst hardship to an adventure-driven piece on women rock climbers over the age of 40, the results are truly remarkable.

To perfectly illustrate the capabilities of the cameras and the stories behind them, the projects are split into movies and stills, each one telling a story in its own special voice. Find out a little about each project below, what inspired it, and the people involved.

Sister, by Bethany Mollenkof

No stranger to imaging and creating new possibilities, Bethany worked tirelessly to create her own path as a photographer. The project, Sister, is an intense and moving mixed-media essay, documenting the rites of passage and coming-of-age stories of girls of color. Visit Instagram >

I Too, Will Be Wise, by Irene Yee

Rock climbing and adventure photographer Irene has a focus on uplifting women, BIPOC, and the LGBTQIA2+ communities within outdoor sports. Her project – I Too, Will Be Wise – concentrates on three middle-age women exploring the Lake Powell area in Utah through climbing, camping, and paddling, showing that we can all thrive well beyond our youth. Trendsetters, by Yolanda Hoskey

Yolanda’s photography creates remarkable images of black art that she adorns as “a little creativity mixed with a little ghetto”, a nod to her upbringing. Now, with Trendsetters, she examines the contradictions of ‘ghetto aesthetic’ versus the ghetto community, taking an alternative view that seeks to humanize a forgotten community. Visit Instagram >

Zapotec Weavers, by Jaida Grey Eagle

An Oglala Lakota artist whose work spans photojournalism, beadwork, and writing, Jaida also reports on communities of color in the Twin Cities for the Sahan Journal. Her documentary project, Zapotec Weavers, follows the lives of a family of traditional farmers and weavers in Oaxaca, Mexico, who are preserving the land and customs of their ancestors and teaching others the art of indigenous weaving and dyeing techniques.
