Steve Christo (Australia)

Steve studied photography at the Sydney Technical College and started work at the Sydney Morning Herald in 1987, shooting news, sports and features. He moved solely to sports in 1994, covering the Olympic Games in Sydney, Athens, Beijing and most recently London. Two Commonwealth Games, The FIFA World Cup in South Africa and many other events, both in Australia and internationally. Some of his awards include a 1993 IOC Gold Lens for black-and-white singles, four POYi Awards of Excellence, a 2008 Sony International Photography Award's second prize in Sports and in 2007 and 2011 a World Press Photo third prize for Sports Action stories and single picture. He was named 2009 Sports Photographer of the Year by Panpa Awards.
As of 2012 after 25 years at the Sydney Morning Herald he decided to start freelancing. In the last 4 years he has worked for..... Destinations NSW, Sydney FC, Wanderers FC, ABC, AP, Reuters, University of NSW, Jaguar, Audi Australia, Commonwealth Bank, NSW Cricket, Swimming Australia, World Sports Group, Asia Cup Federation, Red Bull and contribute to Corbis International Photo agency.
