An Update on Our Partnerships

As part of our commitment to be more representative of our community, we’ve decided to reevaluate our relationships with various photographic organizations. We are pleased to announce the plans we have for 2020 with photographic organizations that share our values of promoting diversity within the industry.

Diversify Photo: An organization with deep commitments to encouraging diversity in the photo industry, dedicated to providing the resources for people in the photography business to do just that. In partnership with Diversify, we’re sponsoring grants as part of the Pulitzer Center’s Eyewitness Photojournalism Grant program, for stories that “cover the systemic, underreported issues of our time, including police brutality, the impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable communities, environmental racism, food insecurity, the opioid crisis, and beyond.”

National Press Photographers’ Foundation (NPPF): NPPF’s mission is “advancing photojournalism through education and awarding scholarships and fellowships to deserving individuals who have demonstrated ability or promise in the field of visual journalism”. We are thrilled to offer an exciting scholarship (and some brand new gear) to “an undergraduate student with a preference for HBCU colleges with portfolio emphasis on visual or multi-media storytelling”.

Bronx Documentary Center (BDC): BDC is a non-profit gallery and educational space located in the Bronx, New York. As mentioned on their website, “through exhibitions, screenings, and public programming, BDC shows the work of internationally-renowned and emerging photographers and filmmakers who are dealing with the themes that guide the BDC: justice, education, community-building, and positive social change”. As part of Fujifilm’s long standing partnership with BDC, we’ve grown our support to include:

  • One-time college scholarships awards and new camera kits for the 10 outgoing Bronx Junior Photo League (BJPL) graduates.
  • A sponsorship towards the Bronx Documentary Center’s annual photo review, which coincides with the 3rd annual Latin American Foto Festival (LAFF). Fujifilm’s sponsorship will cover scholarships for 5 LAFF photographers and 5 Bronx photographers
  • A sponsorship of Bronx Documentary Center’s annual photo auction

We are proud to support these organizations in their efforts to increase access to photography for creators, no matter their background or circumstances. Make sure to check out their social media to see how you can get involved today.
