Hello, I am Jimin Yoo, a photographer.

The project I worked on this time around was about realizing the images I had been longing to shoot for a long time.

The sea is my go-to spot whenever I need comfort, and it is also a place I always yearn for and miss.

With that in mind, this project was inspired by a simple dream I had, wishing that the sea dancing with waves was in front of my home.

I pondered about which elements embody the feeling of being in a comfortable home as I added each detail one by one to complete the collection.

I wanted to express those images of being immersed in emotions as I, feeling a little tiddly, faced the waves right before my eyes in my pajamas, dancing away to my favorite music, while befriending a book to soothe my loneliness.

The remaining pieces of work tell the story of the three weeks of my journey in Thailand.

I focused on bringing a sense of realism to my work by arranging the elements of the space rather than regarding them from a general point of view.

XF30mmF2.8 macro was the only lens I used during my trip in Thailand.

When I carried X-T5, which had gotten even lighter than its predecessor, fitted with a compact lens, on one shoulder in a small bag, I could barely feel its weight. As such, I found it highly convenient to travel with it throughout my challenging trip accompanied by many luggage and traveling.

X-T5 was a perfect choice for capturing passing moments that required me to shoot using only one hand, as it allowed me to quickly turn on the switch and shoot with one hand.

The camera demonstrated outstanding performance as if the dramatically improved pixels were making up for all the limitations of the crop sensor.

When photos had to be cropped to get rid of unnecessary elements, the definition was not compromised in the process.

I worried about noise in low light since the pixels were high in comparison to the size of the sensor, so I was pleasantly surprised by the outstanding noise control ability at high ISO sensitivity despite the JPG file format.

I believe that traveling light is a key to being able to capture more scenery and that one can only truly encapsulate emotions in photos when one is free from fatigue. If a camera feels like a heavy burden during one’s travel, it will become a great obstacle to reflecting sufficiently and exploring profound perspectives.

In that respect, X-T5 was a camera free from all troubles that could potentially impede my work, thereby allowing me to solely engage in the joy of taking photographs.

X-T5 was a small yet attractive camera that I carried with me that could reproduce the incredible memories captured on the streets in the most remarkable way.
