TESTIMONIAL

There’s that often repeated saying that goes something like, “it’s not the camera but the person who’s behind the camera that makes the photograph”. In this instance, like a good marriage, some things can’t happen without being in a good relationship. I’d like to think I have this sort of relationship with the Fujifilm X Series cameras and Fujinon lenses that I use.

I use Fujifilm X Series cameras mainly for my personal work – being, in the main, social documentary and street photography.

I’m one of those photographers who’s been around awhile. Meaning to say, I started off my adventure in photography back in the days of film. At that time, I was using cameras from other brand to shoot much of my personal work.

In the present day, the Fujifilm X Series cameras and lenses I use, give me the results I’m looking for in my personal work. In choosing Fujifilm gear, this was a deliberate choice. I wanted a system with which I could work and grow. At the time, speaking here of mirrorless cameras, Fujifilm was, more or less, the “new kid” on the block. That said, Fujifilm was doing things in new and innovative ways. The one innovation that grabbed my attention was the X-Trans sensor found in most Fujifilm X Series cameras.

In doing what I do on the streets, together with the Fujifilm gear I use, I can get the shots I want and this with certainty and consistency.

I have my ways. I have my methods. I rarely, if ever, communicate with my subjects. There’s no real need for me to ever intrude into any given situation I may be photographing. The thing I love about Fujifilm X Series cameras is that I can shoot any way I choose – eyelevel, from the hip or, extending the camera out in front of me. This all depends on the moment.

These days, when it comes to lenses, Fujinon’s XF zoom lenses are my lenses of choice – specifically the XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR and the XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS zoom lenses. I can’t live (or work) without either of these lenses. I have tried other lenses – fixed focal length primes and other zoom lenses but, these two lenses are my “go to” lenses. Why? They allow me to “reach” into a situation without me ever having to impose or intrude into that situation. The quality of each lens is such that, there is little that I am left to question when it comes to choosing either lens – they are both sharp and precise.

Not only am I pleased but, I am particularly proud of the work I have done and what I have managed to accomplish in recent times with the Fujifilm X Series camera gear and lenses that I’ve had at my disposal – enough to say, it’s made a world of difference and, the resulting images being something I’m proud to share anywhere, with anyone.
