FUJIFILM House of Photography, 8-9 Long Acre, London, WC2E 9LH.
Meet at the Reception Desk, down the stairs in the Lounge on the lower floor.
Please aim to arrive 15 minutes before your session time.
Wedding photography, family photography, street photography, personal projects … each are approached with exactly the same photographic storytelling approach by brother and sister team Dominique and Liam Shaw. Learn how the York Place Studios duo go about creating dynamic, distinctive and consistent imagery across genres wherever they find themselves and whatever they happen to be photographing.
Dominique & Liam will discuss their approach, answer questions and demonstrate how they utilise Fujifilm X Series and Instax cameras within their work before heading out for a street walk to offer pointers on how they look to build images on the street.
This course is aimed at intermediate level but could benefit anyone looking to improve their photographic storytelling.
What kit do you need?
You are more than welcome to bring your own FUJIFILM camera, however a selection of the latest X Series cameras will be available for loan, as well as a selection of lenses ideally suited to street photography.
There will also be the latest instax mini Evo camera available to use.
The morning session will include a presentation on photographic storytelling with an opportunity for discussion and to ask questions.
There will then be an opportunity to get hands on with the cameras and discuss setup and how Dominique & Liam utilise X series and Instax cameras.
After lunch we will head out for a street walk around central London where there will be the opportunity to try to put some of the techniques we have discussed into practice with Dominique and Liam on-hand to offer expert pointers on techniques for building images on the street.
We will then return to the House of Photography where a Q&A will take place.

About York Place Studios
Liam and Dominique Shaw, the brother and sister reportage duo behind York Place Studios have built a reputation for creating big imagery from tiny moments with a focus on people, not places, wherever they happen to be.
Whether shooting weddings, events or street photography, complex, multi-layered storytelling, subtle humour and raw intimacy have become a hallmark of York Place Studios’ imagery. For Dominique and Liam though it’s never about the complexity of an image it’s about the feeling behind it and it’s that feeling that has, for over a decade, driven them in their quest to create original, innovative imagery of real, spontaneous moments.
