Marina Ovejero

I was born in Valladolid in 1980, I grew up in the city of Zaragoza and a few years ago, I moved to Candelario, a small mountain town in the province of Salamanca. I don’t just earn a living with photography, I need it to communicate, to interact with others and to know myself. My work is currently focused on social reportage and due to my fixation on time and the elements, I try to translate to my reports my firm belief that photography saves memories.

I got my start in the world of journalism. I worked for the Zaragoza city council, the newspaper Heraldo de Aragón, the newspaper ADN and I collaborated with the EFE agency.

Some of my photographs have been recognized by international directories like Fearless Photographers and Inspiration Photographers. In 2018, I won the Photographer of the year award from the Flechaenblanco directory.

Taking advantage of the environment where I live, I am currently working on two different personal projects at the same time, one on aging and another on nature.

I bought my first Fujifilm camera with the hope of getting back into photography. Little by little, I had stopped taking pictures outside of my work assignments, and I only took my cameras out of the cupboard for work.

I fell in love with the Fujifilm X-T1, not only for its looks, size, manageability and technical qualities, but for something more emotional: it brought back the excitement and the photographic soul I’ve had since childhood. I remember my first reflex camera. Thanks to this purchase, I began to portray my everyday life, and it has been (and still is) the camera I have at home: I always have it on my desk, in my bag or hanging around my neck, and in my memory, it is associated with the birth and childhood of my daughters.

I began to incorporate it into my work gear as a second camera, and to my surprise, at the end of the wedding season, I realized that the photographs that I had taken with the Fujifilm had something special that I didn’t see in the rest.
I can say that the change in my career occurred hand-in-hand with the change over to Fujifilm.

I added the X-T2 to my Fujifilm equipment because if I had the need for a camera with a faster focus and better sensitivity. It more than met my expectations, so I decided that next season, it was only going to be Fujifilm equipment. This next season, I am going to add the X-T3, XF56mmF1.2 and XF14mmF2.8. With this, I consider that I have the perfect equipment for my work.
