Kan, Kankavee is a businessman and also an urban photographer. Born in 1990, Bangkok, Thailand. Start photography since 2016 during studying in Boston, USA, with X-T10 then upgrade to X-T2, his current camera, a year later. His goal of photography is to express his visual perspective to the world.

Recently, I had the chance to try Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR lens which, I have to say, brought me some good feelings since XF10-24mmF4 R OIS was the first lens I have ever bought and have been using for the past 6 years. My favourite character of the lens in this series is definitely their focal lengths. The ability to capture so much details with wide angles has helped me create countless delightful photos without missing any details. For example, in one of the photo I took of a large temple gate, I am able to capture all the details around the gate in the foreground and still highlight more details in the back.

First, the Weather Resistance system, I have been hoping for this feature for a long time for this kind of lens with focal length of 10-24mmF4. If you have seen some of my photos, you would see that most of my works are mainly of “Urban Photography”. Most of the time, I take photos outdoors and, of course, the weather is not always in your favour. Sometimes, there were drizzling, rain, and even snow. Usually, I would try to create mood in my photos and, to me, those unfortunate weather conditions always brought about great emotions and uniqueness to the photos. While I was using Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS, even without the Weather Resistance system, I still went out taking photos in those weather. Though the rain and snow didn’t hinder me from creating great photos, I had to be a little careful. It’s such a delight that the lens have been so durable and was not much impacted. Now that there is the Weather Resistance system in Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR, I’m having even more fun taking photos in harsher environment. It is currently the monsoon period in Thailand where I’m based and I’m having a great time and having more confidence in creating new images under the rain.

The next obvious difference between the 2 lenses are their sizes. Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR is significantly smaller in the Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS. This is great news. Recently, I have been enjoying the smaller lenses as they are easier to carry around. With this, I can move around easier and carry it to more places. I highly recommend this lens to people who want to travel light and still enjoy the awesomeness of taking great photos.

The next upgrade I would like to mention is the upgraded F indicator in aperture ring. This version is very well designed with the ability to lock the aperture ring and the ring also does not move as easily when turned. This allows you to be more precise when setting the F value as well as preventing unwanted changes to the value you have set when you are taking your photos.

About the Auto Focus system, it has also been upgraded in Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR. The function works faster so you don’t miss any important moments that might happen in just a split second. Together with the better optical image stabilizer system, now you can always be on-the-go and quick to capture those precious moments. It even allows you to take better images under low lights.

I have to salute the new Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR with its many improved functions. It has truly provided me with better experience in taking photos.

I have been focusing on the experience of using the lens. I know many of you would be wondering by now on the differences in the image quality between the 2 lens – Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS and Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR. As I have mentioned, I have been using Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS for a long time and have been using Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR for the past few months. From my personal experience, Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS is already creating very high quality photos; Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR creates photos with quality just as good.

Talking about wide-angled lens, how can I not talk about “distortion”. I have to say that there is not much difference in the “distortion” quality delivered by the two lens. Both are just as good, with the ability to deliver high level of sharpness and straightness in the lines. It performs great with the details from the middle of the photos to the edge.

Now, let’s discuss if this lens with the focal length of XF10-24mmF4 is suitable and beneficial for you. To me, I am a big fan of wide-angled lens because it helps create a grand and glorious perspective. It always allow you to capture images in new angles that narrow lenses do not physically allow you to do. This is super useful when you are taking photos indoor or of a narrow space. It shortens the length in the images such that you can capture more details in your photos. Furthermore, this lens offers F4 values throughout all zoom range. This is why all the details captured via this lens are still clear and sharp as expected from F4 setting.

Overall, Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS is still a lens that is dear to my heart since it has been with me for such a long time and have created so many great photos for me. I can honestly say it has been with me through thick and thin. Now, the Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR; with the great upgrades and improvements like the Weather Resistance system, being of a smaller size, the new function in F indicator in aperture ring, the faster auto focus system and the better optical image stabilizer system, I have a feeling that I will enjoy working with this lens even more. If you have tried the Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS, I am sure you will be impressed with the Fujinon XF10-24mmF4 R OIS WR even more.
