Born in Japan and spending her childhood in the United States for a total of 9 years, Yuriko joined Reuters as a new graduate in 2001. Starting off as a text reporter, she moved on to television and became a photographer from 2002, which she had yearned for. During her tenure, she covered major events including Banda Ache tsunami, Japan's Great East earthquake, APEC, Summit meetings, various sports events, politics, business, features, fashion, nature, entertainment, disasters etc. She has become an independent photographer from January 2013 to pursue wider genre of photography.
Currently she is based in Tokyo area and her clients include various international and domestic major news agencies, newspapers, magazines, corporates, outdoor companies, embassies, government etc.
Her motto in her photography is “Sense of Wonder” (inspired by Rachel Carson’s book)
