Jacques Witt

I was born the 25th of March 1958 in Strasbourg. After the college, I began photographic studies in Paris but I gave up very quickly to start working in a photo laboratory in Strasbourg. Some years after I worked as a freelancer for a daily newspaper in Alsace "Les dernières nouvelles d'Alsace" and for AFP, then I became the local photographer for SIPA Press agency. In 1985, I joined in Paris the photographic staff of the SIPA Press and since that date I covered many events for this agency: the fall of the Berlin Wall, the release of Nelson Mandela, the first Gulf War. I also followed the presidents François Mitterrand, Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy.

Now, I cover the French political news for Sipa Press and I use the Fujifilm X30 when it is necessary to work discreetly, silently. People are more gladly to be photographed with a small and efficient camera like the X30 instead of heavy and impressive equipment which is a little bit disturbing and that is making a lot of noise.
