Tony Hage (France)

Born in Beirut in 1961, Tony Hage, a Franco-Lebanese, arrived in Paris when he was 17. Four years later, he graduated as an assistant director from a film school; he then devoted himself to photography.
His photographs are published in the international press via the Gamma Agency and MaxPPP (Times, Independent, Paris Match, Gala, L’Express, Le Point, Marianne, Actuel, Voici, Le Parisien, Le Figaro Magazine, etc.) and in the major newspapers in the Middle East.
Tony Hage symbolises the bridge between the West and the Middle East. Through his photography, he captures fragments of eras to which he lends a sense of timelessness, bringing the past back to life. His latest exhibitions, which were part of the Photomed Festival, featured a series of portraits taken between 1981 and 1985; Eastern and Western celebrities such as Catherine Deneuve, Dizzy Gillespie, Clint Eastwood, Yves Saint Laurent, John Huston, Youssef Chahine, Camille Chamoun, Amin Maalouf, Raymond Eddé, Ilham Chahine, Jean-Luc Godard or Marcello Mastroianni, embodied this cultural melting pot.
Tony Hage is also the co-founder of the Toromoro Photography Agency and a founding member of Lebanon’s Photomed Festival.

TESTIMONIAL

I’m feeling nostalgic about my “film camera era”, about the light camera with prime lenses I was often carrying, about my bag full of colour films with various tones, black-and-white films. With the Fujifilm X Series cameras, I could feel that freedom and lightness again during my assignments. The equipment is high-performance, beautiful, discreet, convenient, (the viewfinder’s Dual mode is amazing –providing both optical and electronic!), lenses are very high quality and the ability to choose from the brand’s famous films in the menu is far from insignificant. Ever since I got accustomed to it, my Fujifilm camera has followed me everywhere! In short, I’m happy again to have a camera I can take everywhere, anytime.
