My name is Stirling Elmendorf and I'm a commercial photographer based in Osaka, Japan. I travel globally for assignments shooting architecture, interior design, travel, people and fine art.
I love composing images, creating dynamic perspectives and solving problems for my clients.
I have worked for various hospitality clients including Hyatt and Marriott as well as boutique hotels in the USA, Europe and Japan to create inviting images for their potential guests.
My work has been published in books on architecture and interior design, as well as National Geographic Traveler, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Robb Report and many online websites featuring design and architecture.
My fine art prints have been featured in galleries on the East and West coasts of the United States and are found in both corporate and private collections.
I'm always looking forward to the next shot...
I've been shooting with DSLR equipment for 10 years. I have been very happy with image quality, but always had hoped for something a little more silent and a little more discreet. When I recently purchased my Fujifilm X100s, EVERYTHING changed... I found myself slowing down again. Slowing down and enjoying the act of photography, the feeling of composing in the hybrid viewfinder is just great. The image quality is exceptional. I find myself wanting to go for a walk with my camera again. It's a very liberating and inspiring feeling. I really respect the fact that Fuji also consistently addresses consumer feedback, something which seems lacking by many large photographic companies. I had the pleasure of using the X Pro 1 for a few weeks on a European assignment and was thrilled with the performance. I'm really excited to see how this system evolves.
