As a documentary photographer I need small, quiet cameras that don't intimidate or distract my subject.
When Fujifilm has introduced the X100, I was immediately interested by that camera. The X100 JPEG quality is so good that I always work in RAW + JPEG fine, and then I make some minor corrections with Adobe Lightroom.
The film mode is one which faithfully reproduces the colour of positive film, which we have been familiar with for a long time. When the light is overcast as it was this time, the ASTIA mode is what I would want to use. The colour saturation is Soft, reproducing ture colours.
Photography is all about the light. When people are still in bed or have gone home for dinner, I' ll be hunting out the perfect angle and light. I' m not a morning person but being rewarded with dramatic images more than compensates for that inconvenience.
The X100 proved itself time after time as the camera of choice whilst shooting for his People & Places project.
