BIOGRAPHY

Renaud Philippe is a freelance photojournalist living in Quebec, a founding member of the collective Stigmat Photo. After studying journalism, he is confronted with the reality of the refugee camps in Dadaab and Kakuma in Kenya and living conditions in the slums of Calcutta, India. Troubled by social inequalities and convinced of the power of photography, Renaud worked independently from Haiti, Tunisia, Ecuador, Nepal, Turkey, USA. The recurring theme of his personal work is exclusion. He is also well engaged in Canada working for Le Devoir, the National Filmboard of Canada, the Museum of Civilization in Quebec, Canadian Geographic. Renaud's work was published in Le Monde Diplomatique, Le Figaro, Days Japan, Mare, La Croix, Science et Vie, Mac'Leans, and is distributed in Europe by the cooperative agency Picturetank. In 2010 his work on the aftermath in Haïti won a award of excellence at Picture of the year (POY).
