Quynh Anh, who is my muse in these photos, is a senior high school student in a suburb area of Hanoi. Ao Dai is the common and traditional uniform for high-school girls in Vietnam. Therefore, every girl wants a picture of themselves in this traditional dress to keep the student period love memory, and Quynh Anh is no exception.
Grown up in a rich cultural heritage area in the North, she can be easily fit to the idea of this photo-shoot concept. Through the concept, I wanted to tell a story about her in the traditional Ao Dai together with the ancient houses that were built hundred years ago.
I named it Day Dreamer because I wanted to catch her in dreaming state and the love of this young lady to the country heritage value. We chose the location where she often comes to study, to play with her friends, and to help her families with the chores. What makes it special is that she wears the white Ao Dai in every corner, at home or by the river. The photo-shoot was perfect, Quynh Anh loves the photos since all romantic postures of a girl were captured.
I believe ProNeg Hi - one of the unique film simulation of Fujifilm would be matching perfectly to this concept, and indeed, it did not disappoint me. Technically, ProNeg Hi delivers a smooth color blended without harshness and the shades are transited smoothly that made the model more outstanding in the photo-shoot. This profile color also enhances the skin stone perfectly: soft and pure without losing detail.
ProNeg Hi is highly recommended for users who want to capture the natural portrait with vintage feeling. Best Fujinon combo for this concept is 56mm F1.2R and 35mmF1.4 R for the models detail highlighted while create smoothly blur in the background. Beside the color, X-T2 new design 3D LCD tilt screen and Vertical battery grips give me great chance to create extraordinary angles of portrait shooting.
