Alberto Selvestrel (Italy)

Alberto Selvestrel was born in Turin the 29th November, 1996.

In 2014, at the age of 17, he approached photography with a particular attention to the landscape. Two years later he deepened his research by self-studying, and decided to focus on the anthropic landscape and its modifications, starting to develop his unique style characterized by geometric and minimal compositions. Selvestrel’s research is aimed at condensing the maximum level of his conceptual expression into the minimal form.

Furthermore, during 2017 Selvestrel exhibited his work in Italy and in 2018 exhibited in London and Brussels.

In March 18, 2019 his second book entitled “Link” was released, with a foreword of one of the greatest Italian photographers: Giovanni Gastel.

In October 2019 Selvestrel was the only Italian photograph chosen by FujiFilm to collaborate on the launch of their latest camera, the X-Pro3.

In 2020, Automobili Lamborghini chose Selvestrel for the project “With Italy for Italy”, aimed at the valorisation of Italy during times of post-Covid.

During the same year, Selvestrel inaugurated his first solo show in Milano, curated by ArtNoble.

On 26th June 2021 inaugurated the exhibition “L’unica Danza” in collaboration with Fondazione Elpis and Galleria Continua for the project “Una Boccata d’arte”.

After a period of experimentation in which I photographed a multitude of subjects, I focused on finding a personal photographic language that would best interpret the landscape.

During my first photographic journeys characterised by long and tiring walks, I realised the need of a lightweight photographic equipment.

I turned my attention to the world of mirrorless cameras and purchased my first Fujifilm camera, an X-T10.

In addition to the pleasant discovery of the lightness of the lenses and camera bodies, I was particularly impressed by the high quality of the files, which allowed me to work at my best when I printed my photographs and I held my first photo exhibitions.

Since then, I have changed camera bodies according to my work needs, until I got to the GFX 50R, which has allowed me to make large prints and very high quality while being a versatile and intuitive camera.

I was amazed at the extreme consistency that a user finds between models of different ranges, all Fujifilm cameras speak the same language and help the photographer in his sole task, to take good pictures.
