The Fujifilm GFX100RF is a small range finder, as a camera of this type should be. Weighing approximately 735 grams in a simple design. But it is on a practical basis. The camera uses the milling method or is formed from an aluminum bar, making top plate is all in one piece, which is very durable. There is no LED screen, the microphone hole is small. And it was caused by drilling into the same piece of aluminum. Using the word, there was no patching or screwing part on the work piece at all. This is the first camera from Fujifilm to do this. When you take a picture, you will feel the words ‘it’s really just one lump’.
Buttons and controls on the camera are designed and positioned. Works well in limited space. The turning point that will receive water droplets, dust, or humidity has only a knob to adjust the main function with the exposure compensation button. Fujifilm claims that it is weather resistant when the camera is used with a lens hood and filter set.
Not too many buttons, not too small. Any buttons that should be used frequently are not made to look good and are difficult to use. And the lens has a pretty good control function. When entering the menu, you can change it as you wish. Under the beautiful and compact design, here it still feels like there’s too much provided. Until sometimes it’s not necessary. But I think someone might like it. Because you can adjust cross back and forth as we feel comfortable.
But personally, I feel that the exposure compensation dial is large and easy to use. It is something that should be praised because it is the button that controls shooting in the simplest way possible. So, you don’t have to think too much, just keep your mind focused.
For example, the digital teleconverter lever to adjust the crop distance is in a position that is very easy to use. Or use the front lever that can be adjusted to use other functions you want. Put the button where the point of rotation of the lever to increase the need for control, and it doesn’t waste space that requires additional buttons.

The quick menu button design is well done. It is a frequently used button, so it must be in a position that is easy to press. But in a position that is easy to press, it’s easy to accidentally get hit as well. Making the button deeper than the surface of the handle. It is considered a clever design that still maintains both beauty and ease of use without taking your eyes off the viewfinder.
The exterior design is excellent in every way. Handling is good for all users. The hand grip has enough space to grip, but when combined with the lens, it’s much more stable, so good that you don’t even need to find one extra grip. Because if you put something in it, it will be more messy. That completely defeats the purpose of the camera.
The materials used for assembly are strong and the engraving on the various buttons is very impressive. Even the hot shoe cover is designed to close tightly and is the same color and material as the body when worn. Already maintaining the lines of the body, the body can be impressed without having to go looking for decorations at all.

The viewfinder works well. Very good and designed for flexible use. Does not protrude. The material does not create friction with clothing. The sight adjustment button is not in the way and can still be used fast. The viewfinder is an EVF that can adjust brightness, tone, and saturation and has a sensor to adjust it. Usage Automatically and can choose to on and off in many ways.
The aspect ratio adjustment button is now my favorite point because it adjusts the image size. It changes the way we look at the composition of the image. For those who think it’s okay to crop it later, you can just skip reading this.

For me, this is completely different from cropping later. Because when the picture part changes, the angle placement also changes. Selecting the camera height also changes. Choosing the foreground or background changes, or even set a new aspect ratio. It also affects the focal length that we want to change. At this point, both functions, namely aspect ratio, work together with the cropping frame as well. Sitting and soaking in a corner. But you can take many different kinds of photos. Personally, I think it doesn’t make sense at first. But they have become the two most frequently used in testing.
There are many formats for adjustment, such as 3:2 / 16:9 / 65:24 / 17:6 / 5:4 and others. But the most frequently used is 65:24 because it’s always been my favorite angle. Because I like to take panoramas. When taking pictures with the ratio from the camera, it can be confirmed that the placement of the shooting angle really changed.

The camera has a surround view function that can adjust the frame to be either transparent or completely black. Looking at images in new different parts can be made clearly, making the photography change in sound. It’s fun to do, making it easy to find a shooting angle. Change the composition of the image.

The strap designed for use with this camera is long enough to be worn diagonally across the chest and shoulder. Then pick it up and use it or carry the camera on the back, and still not be able to take pictures very well.
It really seems to be designed to be used like this. Because wearing it around your neck will be too long and the strap is too thick. To wrap around the wrist, the length is sufficient if you want to take low-angle shots by folding the monitor and still wrapping it around the wrist camera on your neck.
The LCD screen can be made very thin, smooth, close to the camera body, can be made strong, and is designed to pull the screen out smoothly.
A 35mmF 4.0 lens or equivalent 28 mm in full frame format makes it small, compact and into the camera, it’s perfect, not too long and out of the way. Even if you wear a square hood and even more flexible if you don’t wear a hood.

Here in the box will be another ring. Wear it and you will look much smaller. But cannot add a filter. You can put it in a bag that can carry a small camera. Then pull it out and use it easily and quickly.

The shooting distance compared to the 35 mm format is equivalent to approximately 28 mm, which is quite a standard angle. Not too wide, not too narrow, but if the picture is 4:3, it is considered an angle that gives the space to tell the story of the image is more complete if compared to a 3:2. With a lens on the medium format sensor, it still makes the image still have good dimensions.

2 pins on the lens for quick aperture adjustment. It is in a position where it is easy to rotate. And it’s short enough that your fingers won’t accidentally get caught. This is well done and completed without causing problems.

Even though the lens is small, it has excellent quality. The magnifying power of the lens elements is very good, with a resolution of 102 megapixels, which has a lot of pixels like this, you can zoom in until you can see the flaws of photography, such as shaking.
But the sharpness of the lens is good from the widest aperture of F4.0 to F22.0, showing good sharpness until reaching the edge of the picture. And lens design that achieves the perfect distance causes the distortion value from diffraction. It has quite a bit of an effect on the image quality. This must be accepted. What I have done has really touched my heart and can control the flare and aberrations.

Regarding focus, it works quite well in all lighting conditions, being able to focus in many different ways, even at wide angles. It can detect people’s eyes well. Works well with joysticks and touch screens. With the characteristics of the camera and focus that can be achieved, for me, it is considered to pass the test.

As for other matters, I have to say that it is a camera that comes with everything quite complete and has a label attached. Already given that I didn’t come to work… I came to pay installments, to help to heal my heart, to help me be happy. Both when picking it up and taking pictures or sitting and watching.
Full marks for me are materials, handling, appearance, use of the word-perfect, classy, strong, a full 10 points, not broken. The design to make “happy” is really well done. It doesn’t say that it’s for doing all sorts of things. And I can’t do it. Now, I want to carry it everywhere because it’s beautiful, light, and really fun to use. The lens range is easy to use. After cropping, there are still pixels left for editing and files inherited from the GFX 100 IIs’ 102 million sensor means you need worry-free accuracy.

Epilogue
Each camera has different features. There is no best or worst camera. There are only used cameras that are suitable for us and our work or used that are not suitable for us and our work part.
Personally, I think the GFX100 RF has completely achieved its purpose. From the concept of design, the selection of materials, production, and the overall picture of the camera came out exactly as the team had intended.
As for whether it’s suitable for us or not… no one can answer but ourselves.
