Elke Vogelsang (Germany)

Elke Vogelsang is a self-taught photographer from Germany. When her husband fell seriously ill a few years ago, she used photography as a means to try to get her mind off things and to cope with the stressful time. Fortunately, everything turned out well. The passion for photography turned into something like a healing creative outlet and finally into a profession. She specializes in people and pet photography, but has her camera with her all the time and everywhere.

Her three “photography companion dogs” and beloved canine family members Noodles, Scout and Loli find themselves in front of her camera regularly. They claim their share of worldwide fame by publications in magazines and newspapers all over the world. Elke also does commissions and is currently working on a coffee table book with her dog pictures, which will be published next year in London. Her pictures are shown in exhibitions in several countries.

I got myself a Fujifilm X20 as a camera I can carry with me everywhere. This tiny little thing sparked my creativity in a way I never expected. Experimenting with its features I came up with a series of pictures, which went viral on the Internet. So, I can honestly say that this camera is in some way responsible for my international breakthrough as a photographer.
